What is Lure Coursing?

Coursing in itself is one of the oldest sports known to man and his dog.
Sighthounds in particular excel at this sport.  Lure coursing presents an opportunity for your dog to do what is an instinctive behaviour.  The courses are usually between 500 – 1000 metres in length.
The course is designed to simulate an open field hunt and the pattern of the course represents how a dog would chase down prey (a plastic bag on a string) The sport of lure coursing was developed in the early 70’s in America so as enthusiasts could test the function of their sighthounds in a safe environment.

Dogs are scored on : Enthusiasm, Follow, Speed, Agility and Endurance.
