About - ASHBOLT -
How it all began.....
Although my "ASHBOLT" prefix was only registered in 2009 my first Weimaraner, Ch Feldjaeger Kameo "Sami" (pictured above at almost 12 years of age) was purchased in 2003. I fell in love with her and with the breed as a whole. In 2005 we purchased our second Weimaraner, Grand Ch Feldjaeger Moon Glitter 'Jemma'.
Both girls were shown with moderate success at All Breeds and Specialty Shows. They both placed in their classes at the Weimaraner Nationals held in Victoria in 2005.
I had not set out to become a Breeder but sometimes if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. So after 6 years and many months of research I made the decision to have my first litter in 2010.
The sire of this very special litter was "Mark" (ROM.CY.LUX.AM.DAN.BLG.CAN.AUST Ch Davora Bremar Mark Of Ashlaren (Imp Can.))
He and 'Sami' (Ch Feldjaeger Kameo) produced a litter of 6 puppies (5 boys and 1 girl) Luckily for me I had planned on keeping a boy from this litter and was spoiled for choice. I kept "Lucas" (Supreme Ch Ashbolt Ark Royal RN TD ET) who went on to become the youngest Owner, Bred & Handled Weimaraner in Australia to achieve the Supreme Championship Conformation Title.
Not only an outstanding show dog, he also has the Endurance (ET) Rally Obedience (RN) and Tracking Dog (TD) Titles. He has also placed in Retrieving Trials and enjoys Lure Coursing. A wonderful example of the Weimaraner's versatility!
After several years of searching for the right girl, 2015 saw the addition of 'Trixie' Ch Cruisenif Hot Tricks TD ET CAA from Regina De Silva in NSW.
'Trixie' completed her Conformation, JC, CA & CAA Lure Coursing Titles, the Tracking Dog and Endurance Titles. In 2018 'Trixie' was bred to 'Lucas' and produced 7 gorgeous puppies (5 boys and 2 girls) who will enjoy Working, Performance and Showing futures. From this litter I kept 'Marcus' Ch Ashbolt High Class (AI) TD JC. He is following in his parent's footsteps enjoying a variety of Dog Sports as well as Conformation. Before 12 moths of age he had gained his Australian Championship and TD (Tracking Dog) Titles. Unfortunately due to Covid19 in 2020 & 2021 he has missed out on almost 2 years of competitions.
2022 saw him awarded an All Breeds Best in Show and a RU Best in Show and several Best in Groups. I am so very proud to have bred and handled both him and his sire and to be recognised at the highest level.
After moving to Northern Victoria in 2021 for personal reasons, I was lucky enough to purchase a small rural property. We all love the extra room and cooler temperatures.
2023 saw a new addition join the family. 'Tiffany' ~ Weimurastar Sparkles At Ashbolt (AI) was purchased from Weimurastar Weimaraners in South Australia. She is a promising young lady who will enjoy the many various dog sports and conformation showing that my other dogs do and also allow me to continue my breeding program into the future.
As an ANKC Registered Breeder, it's both my aim and obligation to contribute to improving my chosen breed's health, temperament and conformation. I am passionate about preserving the Weimaraner's athletic appearance, natural working ability and soundness of mind and body according to the Breed Standard.
My dogs are Hip Scored and DNA Tested to help ensure offspring are healthy.
I continue to broaden my knowledge by attending seminars, reading breed related articles and speaking to well respected longtime Breeders who have excelled within their chosen breeds. Their knowledge and years of experience are invaluable.
