Sapphire Coast Supports Dickenson Oval Sports Pavilion

Sapphire Coast Kennel and Obedience Club  used the funds raised out at the 2014 Open Show to fit out the kitchen at the new Sports pavilion with major appliances

After much work by the Dickenson Oval Sportsground committee (chaired by Peter Fazey who is also our President) and Bega Valley Council the NEW sportsground pavilion is ready for use.

The previous structure was burnt down in August 2012.The new building was officially opened on the 18 July 2015 by the Mayor of Bega Valley Shire Council (Cr Michael Britton) and Member for Bega (Hon Andrew Constance MP, Minister for Transport and Infrastructure) and sports/committee representatives.

The building has been designed to facilitate the needs of all sports bodies and users of the sportsground with design input from the main users. (being AFL, Cricket, Sapphire Coast Kennel & Obedience Club Inc, Bega Valley Kennel & Obedience Club and the Seaside Fair).

The building has change rooms, storage, umpires room, disabled toilets, a full commercial kitchen (with a number of the kitchen appliances being donated by Sapphire Coast Kennel & Obedience Club from past fundraising events thanks to our exhibitors),a secure office, and a foyer/function room to seat approx 60-70 people, a verandah on the front, internal/external speakers, lighting externally and a built in PA system that has a range to cover the entire oval, TV for the added advantage of replaying matches or photos etc at functions. Outside has been landscaped with gardens at the rear. Parking for the disabled is also at the rear of the building.

This building is a great asset to Bermagui for use by sporting bodies and the community. Many thanks to the State government and Bega Valley shire for making this happen.

The dogs shows and obedience trials will make good use of this facility.
