2014 Championship Show - Judges Critique

Thank you for inviting me to judge your Championship show for the Whippet Club Of Queensland on 7th June 2014. And thank you for the great hospitality and the opportunity to see your part of the country. Special thanks to Toni McNeill for being my tour guide and looking after me so well.

It is great to see the breed in many countries as now there is influence from all corners of the world and I think the quality now is quite equal. That means there is very good quality in most countries. But I also think the problems in the breed today in most countries are size, flat toplines, long bodies (long in loin) and lack of balance in movement. I think you have minor problems with this but have mostly kept correct type and you should be happy about that.

It is a long trip and there is also 10 hr time difference so it is a little hard to change to your time. I can honestly say that I needed a little more time to come fit for the work judging your dogs.

PARNEW I LIKE IT WILD. A very sweet little boy, nice proportions. On the day had puppy movement - a little loose in front and needs more stability.

MARTINIQUE MIDNITE MADRIGAL. Nice all over, very good head and expression. Good topline but moves slightly loose in front. Hope for the best in the future.

ROSIEL ROYAL MAGICIAN (AI). Good all over. Slightly long in body and needs more substance and stability in movement.

ELMARO HARD ACT TO FOLLOW. Nice all over. Slightly long in loin and could be more curvy. Slightly lose in elbows.

WARLEY TALK DIRTY TO ME. Nice all over. Good proportions and angulations but needs more balance in movement.

SHALIQUE IVE GOT TO IMPRESS. Good all over. Needs more balance. Moves with high front legs and loose elbows.

RORYSTAR NAPOLEON. Good all over, needs more balance, flat topline.

CH ROSIEL PAX TO THE RAFTERS. Excellent all over with very good head and expression. Very good body, topline, bone and feet. Moves very well.

JORDEAUX SUMMER RAIN. Excellent all over with good head and expression. Very good body and topline. Good bone and feet. Moves well.

SHAWTHING THATZ STERLING. Good all over. Slightly long in loin and needs more stability in movement. Loose in elbows and needs more stability in hocks.

NABIHAH GREEN WITH ENVY. Nice all over, very good head and expression. Curvy and with good topline. Moves very well for her age.
