About Us
Clarony consists of me (Mel) & mum (Carolyn), both have a huge love for this breed and what they offer.
Carolyn was first introduced to the breed when Laddie (Stanor Storm Lad) was welcomed to their family in 1966 followed by Taffy (a red/white fluffy) in 1973. In 1975 Carolyn was gifted Mandy (Majasha Mandwyn Lee) by her parents (Mavis & Fred, my grandparents) for her 16th birthday who she bred under the Clarony Prefix (a name created by Fred). Cindy was born on 1977 (Clarony Lucinda Lee) who did a little bit of showing as a baby and was awarded a Baby In Group. Mandy followed Carolyn when she married but sadly lost her to cancer in 1984. In 1985 Carolyn welcomed Sasha (Saldrum Lady Sasha) who was a beautiful sable fluffy. Sasha was the first corgi I had in my life, she lived a long life, and always felt fortunate for her to be my introduction to the breed.
We next welcomed Tessa into our family and 6mths later added Alfie (Jangstar Double Trouble). Carolyn has always had an active interest in obedience and was a volunteer instructor for many years. Sasha was at pre-trial level for obedience and I began obedience training with Tessa while mum trained Alfie, unfortunately we lost Tessa at an early age, but my interest in obedience training continued and I worked with Alfie to a pre-trial level. Over time we added dear sweet Macey (from Stormvale kennels) who really didn't love anything obedience or hard work. However acheived a Herding Title on Ducks at the age of 6.
I purchased my first show/sports dog (Newpry Field Of Dreams) in 2014, Fielder was and still is perfection to me, we've achieved so much. Fielder has been awarded multiple Neuter In Group & Neuter In Show awards, and have competed in Herding, Flyball, Agility, Jumping, Rally, Dancing with Dogs and Tricks.
The following year we were extremely fortunate to purchase our foundation bitch, Fenway (Dygae Sweet Caroline). In 2019, we bred our first litter under the Clarony prefix.
We are both very passionate and actively involved in many ANKC sports, Carolyn is currently competing with Fenway and her son Carter in Agility, Jumping, Rally, Tracking, Tricks and Scent work.
Myself, I'm competing in Jumping with Forrest, Tricks with Fielder and have begun training Pearl in Agility, Rally & Scent work.
I live on a beautiful rural property on the Yorke Peninsula and Carolyn lives north east of Adelaide.
We pride ourselves on breeding corgis that are not just beautiful to look at but highly intelligent & sound.
We are very thankful to all the cherished friends we've made through this amazing breed, the mentorship and support we've received.
