"ASHBOLT" Weimaraners

Current News

December 2023

Although the competitions continue through to the New Year we hang up the show leads in December for a well earned break.
ASHBOLT wishes everyone a very Happy Christmas and a Safe New Year!

November 2023

We traveled up to Goulburn for a cluster of 6 shows.
Being November I expected it to be hot and packed accordingly. It was pleasant the first day and then turned very cold and windy!
Both 'Marcus' and 'Pippa' went well with 'Marcus' picking up all Best of Breeds and a
RU BEST IN GROUP. 'Pippa' had competition so was more interested in playing in the ring than trotting nicely. She enjoyed herself on her first camping trip having many positive experiences.

***

It was nice having shows close to home at Wodonga.
The weather was warm but we were well prepared.
'Marcus' was Best of Breed at each show. 'Pippa' performed very well and was Baby of Breed at each of the shows.

October 2023

Cobram Agricultural Show is another one I used to do many years ago when I had horses.
'Marcus' was awarded Best in the Gundog Group from some lovely dogs then went on to win
RUNNER BEST IN SHOW ~
This is his second RU Best in Show. As his Breeder and handler I am extremely proud of his achievements.

***

Benalla held 2 shows on the one day for their Agricultural show this year.
It was a very warm day but both 'Marcus' and 'Pippa' showed well.
'Marcus' was Best of Breed at both shows and 'Pippa' was Baby of Breed.

***

I haven't attended Walbundrie Show since I used to show horses about 30 years ago!
It was just as I remembered it. A busy country show with all manner of livestock, arts and crafts.
'Marcus' was BEST OF BREED and 'Pippa' had her first show with me winning
3rd Place in Baby Puppy Sweepstakes and Baby Weimaraner of Breed.

September 2023

ASHBOLT welcomed a very special addition this month.
'Pippa' Kadma Worth Th Trouble At Ashbolt (AI) is from Carol Thompson in Qld.
Her sire 'Packer' was born 35 years ago. I can't thank Carol enough for allowing the only girl in the litter come to me.

***

September is show time at Melbourne Royal!
We attended two days this year where 'Marcus' showed to perfection.
He placed 2nd in his class and enjoyed the attention from the public.
It was a very busy couple of days and we were all glad to get home again.

***

The International Spring Fair in Sydney is always a fabulous weekend that attracts exhibitors from all states of Australia.
It was wonderful to catch up with some interstate friends and of course compete under a panel of International Judges.
As always 'Marcus' put his best foot forward and for the second year in a row was awarded
3rd Place in the Multi Titled Sweepstakes!
There was a good entry of dogs titled in various Dog Sports as well as being Australian Champions.

August 2023

The days are starting to get longer now which is lovely for spending more time outside.
We had a pleasant day at Wagga for the Kennel Club show.
'Marcus' was awarded Best of Breed and AUST-BRED IN GROUP by Mrs M. Davis (Qld)

***

A change of pace again at the Victorian State Championship double Rally Trials.
There were some wonderful rounds with perfect scores which were fabulous to watch!
'Marcus' gained his final pass needed for his RALLY NOVICE Title!!!
He is such a clever boy and really enjoys having a go at anything.

***

The Weimaraner is such a versatile dog, they enjoy lots of different activities with their owners.
Here at ASHBOLT I like to 'walk the walk' by demonstrating their versatility by competing in various Dog Sports. The bond between dog and handler is a strong one and of course we all enjoy the challenge and having fun together!

July 2023

While I was hoping to get to a few Tracking Trials this season the snakes have decided to come out early, so sadly we will have to give it a miss.
I decided to have a go at Rally with 'Marcus' instead.
After only a few short weeks of training we entered our first double Rally trials at Albury.
He did super gaining 2 Rally Novice passes!
It's been 9 years since I have done any Rally and felt really rusty but it all came together on the day.

***

We only made it to 1 day of shows in July due to other commitments.
'Marcus' did well being awarded an 11 point BEST OF BREED indoors at the KCC grounds under Mrs L. Niemann (SA)

June 2023

After training for a couple of months 'Marcus' and I ventured South to compete in the 20km Endurance Test held by the GSD Club of Victoria.
It was a cold day but thankfully it stayed dry until the completion of the test.
'Marcus' had no trouble at all with the distance and passed his Vet checks with ease.
This is the 5th Title he can now add to his name!

***

We did a quick trip up to Harden for a show, it was very cold just as I remembered it from last time! 'Marcus' did very well winning Best of Breed and RU BEST IN GROUP under Mrs J. Wilshire (Qld)

***

It was time for a bit of fun at the Saluki Club of Victoria's Lure Coursing Trial at Bendigo.
We hadn't been to one for about 12 months so the dogs were both very excited!
'Trixie' and 'Marcus' both put in a couple of excellent runs attaining passes in their respective classes. 'Trixie' gained her final pass for her Coursing Ability Excellent Title making it her 7th Title in various disciplines! She really loves her Dog Sports.

May 2023

'Marcus' wins another BEST IN GROUP at the Murray Valley Kennel Club Show
under Mrs J. Sach (WA)
He is looking fantastic and always performs to perfection, I'm sure more fabulous wins will come his way! I'm very proud of him every time we step into the show ring.

April 2023

'Marcus' had a wonderful couple of days showing at Cootamundra ABKC.
He was awarded the final points for his GRAND Championship by winning
BEST IN GROUP by Mr D. Mahoney (NSW)
Pending Dogs Victoria 'Marcus' can be known as :
GRAND Ch Ashbolt High Class (AI) TD JC
Another box ticked off the list, now to work on some more titles!

***

South Australia hosted the 7th Weimaraner National this year.
It was great to have a Breed Specialist judging - Mrs Malgorzata Wasacz-Rosa from Poland.
The National is usually held every 3 years but due to Covid it has been 6 years since the last one was held.
'Marcus' showed well as always and was placed 2nd in his class behind the challenge winner.
It was lovely to meet some Breeders from New Zealand as well as those from interstate.

***

After a couple of weekends off we ventured to Albury for a cluster of 5 shows.
It was a big weekend for young 'Tiffany', she slept very well each night!
From the 5 shows she was awarded:
3 x BABY PUPPY IN GROUPS
1 x BABY PUPPY IN SHOW
1 x BABY PUPPY IN SPECIALTY SHOW
'Marcus' performed beautifully as always and collected some points towards his next title.

March 2023

Miss 'Tiffany Sparkles' made her showing debut at Wangaratta & District Kennel Club.
She was awarded BABY PUPPY IN GROUP by Rev C. Seymour (NSW) from a lovely line up of baby Gundogs!
'Marcus' is currently looking fabulous and was BEST OF BREED and shortlisted for the Group at both shows. It was a lovely couple of days showing close to home.

***

'Marcus' was Best Of Breed and RU BEST IN GROUP at the Kerang Agricultural Show!
The weather was wonderful and there was a wonderful entry of Gundogs.
'Tiffany' came for the outing as she was a few days too young to be entered. She enjoyed watching the activity and meeting new people.

***

We travelled up the highway to Gundagai Agrucultural Show where 'Marcus' was awarded Best of Breed and AUST-BRED IN GROUP under judge Mr A. Druce from Victoria.
It was a warm and windy day but it was wonderful to be out amongst it all again after spending so much time working on things around the house.

Febuary 2023

Febuary we welcomed a new addition to the family!
'Tiffany' (Weimurastar Sparkles At Ashbolt (AI)) is a promising puppy that will be shown and enjoy various Dog Sports.
She is settling in well and getting into the routine here at ASHBOLT.
Lead training, coming when called and being introduced to many different things/experiences are all going well.
Fun times ahead!

January 2023

* 2023 sees me celebrate 20 years involvement with the regal and aristocratic Weimaraner! *
I just love the Weimaraner and everything about them. I am constantly learning about them and have formed a close bond with my dogs over the years training and competing in various disciplines as a team.
Each of them have taught me so much as they are all individuals with different strengths and weaknesses but have all excelled in different areas.
I look forward to the next 20 years with these beautiful dogs and what's in store for ASHBOLT this year and beyond.

December 2022

I hadn't planned on doing any shows in December as it's usually too hot.
We had a cool change so decided to head up the highway to Harden for a cluster of 6 shows.
Marcus did very well under local and interstate judges winning:
2 x RU BEST IN GROUPS
4 x BRED BY EXHIBITOR IN GROUPS
1 x BRED BY EXHIBITOR IN SHOW
He accumulated 57 points over the weekend putting him on the downhill run to the 1,000 required for the Grand & Supreme Championship Titles!

November 2022

We have been very quiet as far as competitions go. The weather is heating up and work commitments have prevented us from doing too much.
We did some local shows at Wodonga where Marcus was awarded a Best of Breed and
AUST-BRED IN GROUP under Mr Winch (Vic).

October 2022

~ ASHBOLT ~ has moved to northern Victoria.
We are now situated in a rural area and are all enjoying the extra space!
After growing up and showing horses in the surrounding area it's nice to be back.
While I enjoyed 24 years of living on the Sunshine Coast there's nothing quite like home.
Once we are more settled in we will be back into the swing of things training and competing in the various dog sports we love.
While there's lots to do around the new place we will make time to get out and about when we can.

September 2022

September saw us attend our first Adelaide Royal Show.
It had a pleasant country show atmosphere with the general public enjoying watching all the beautiful pedigree dogs on display.
While we didn't have any results to brag about we had a wonderful time and plan to attend again in the future.

***

We also attended Melbourne Royal for the first time in 8 years!
I really love the big show atmosphere and chatting with the public.
'Marcus' showed beautifully and was placed second in his class.

August 2022

7 weeks since our last shows due to work and other commitments we headed to Wagga Wagga for a couple of shows. 'Marcus' was awarded
2 x Best of Breeds and
1 x AUST-BRED IN GROUP
It was nice to be showing again and catching up with everyone.

***

We had fun at a cluster of shows held indoors at Bendigo.
It was a buzy weekend with 2 shows each day but it was lovely meeting new people and watching the dogs do their thing.
'Marcus' did well against different competition winning a couple of Best of Breeds as well as a
RU BEST IN GROUP & Aust-Bred in Group under Mrs H. Beasley (NSW)

***

For many years I have wanted to do the Western Circuit. After it being cancelled the past 2 years because of Covid 19 this year it finally went ahead.
'Marcus' showed very well and came away with some wonderful results.
He won 11 out of the 16 BEST OF BREEDS on offer as well as a
RU BEST IN SHOW, BEST IN GROUP, RU BEST IN GROUP and several classes in Group.

Our trip also included the International Spring Fair in Sydney.
It's been 6 years since we've attended and it was everything I remembered.
It was a very busy but wonderful few weeks away.

July 2022

After a couple of weeks off we were back into it!
We attended the Saluki Club of Victoria's Lure Coursing trial at Bendigo.
'Trixie' gained another pass in CAA and 'Marcus' smashed his two runs in JC for another pass.
This gives him the JC ~ Junior Courser Title ~
Although Lure Coursing is traditionally a Sighthound sport the dogs just love it and it's a lot of fun.

June 2022

It's been a couple of years since we have competed at a Lure Coursing trial, it was great to be back out there having fun!
'Marcus' ran his first course in JC (Junior Courser) and got a pass towards his Title.
'Trixie' was very excited to be chasing the bags again and got another pass in CAA (Coursing Ability Advanced)
It was a wonderful day watching all the dogs having a great time.

May 2022

'Marcus' is continuing on his winning way in the show ring at Euroa, he was Best of Breed both days and was also best Aust-Bred in Group!

***

Some exciting results for 'Marcus' at the Cootamundra and South West Slopes Kennel Clubs this month.
We had a very successful couple of day in the show ring under interstate judges.
'Marcus' was awarded 2 x BEST IN GROUPS and his first All Breeds
BEST IN SHOW!!!
It's such a thrill to be awarded the top prize but also to have bred and handled 'Marcus' myself makes it very special.
He is a second generation ASHBOLT Best in Show winner!

April 2022

Another successful weekend at the Corowa and Albury Kennel Club Shows.
'Marcus' was awarded another 2 BEST OF BREEDS!

***

'Marcus' is continuing on his winning way in the show ring with Best Of Breed both days at the Wangaratta Kennel Club Shows!
The weather is cooling down now making it much more plesant to be out and about.

March 2022

March has seen some terrible flooding in both Queensland and New South Wales but we have been lucky enough to escape it with just some heavy rain.
The Agricultural Shows are in full swing which is a perfect opportunity to get out to the small towns and see some of the wonderful countryside.
Boorowa had 2 shows where 'Marcus' picked up some challenge points and an Aust-Bred in Group.

***

'Marcus' won another Best of Breed at the Tallangatta Show against different competition.
He is looking great and showing well, hopefully we can make it to a few more shows.

February 2022

We are getting to  few shows here and there in between working weekends which is great.
'Marcus' continues to do well where ever we go.
He was awarded BEST OF BREED at the Crookwell Show.
It's been lovely to not only be back showing again but go to places we haven't been before and compete against different competition.

***

For the first time in several years we attended the Canberra Royal Show.
It was a busy day with the Gundog Specialty Show also on the same day.
It was lovely to catch up with some interstate friends and of course watch all the Gundogs.
'Marcus' showed very well and won his class at both shows as well as Australian Bred of Breed.

January 2022

A wonderful start to the year getting out to some shows in Victoria.
Marcus has added some more points to his tally and we have enjoyed getting out and watching all the glorious Gundogs.
The South Eastern and Bass Kennel Club shows were held at night with perfect weather.
Marcus was awarded a 2 x RU BEST OF BREEDS and a BEST OF BREED.
The following weekend at Lang Lang Agricultural Show he was BEST OF BREED.

***

We travelled to Canberra for the 2 Gundog Specialty Shows held at the exhibition centre.
'Marcus' was awarded BEST OF BREED at both shows and was also best
BRED BY EXHIBITOR IN SHOW at Show B.
It was a very late night by the time we had finished so we travelled home the following day.

***

A day trip to Bulla in Victoria for the Australia Day Show saw 'Marcus' win another BEST OF BREED.
He is showing very well after only attending a handful of shows in the past couple of years due to covid.

December 2021

It's hard to believe another year is almost over!

*** MERRY CHRISTMAS *** from ASHBOLT Weimaraners!

Wishing everyone a safe and happy New Year.

***

For those that are looking to add a Weimaraner to their family, there are several litters listed on
Dogz Online.

November 2021

After a long 6 month break due to Covid19 restrictions and lockdowns we finally made it to a weekend of shows!
We travelled to Echuca for 3 shows under local judges.
'Marcus' went well after the long break and was awarded 1 x reserve challenge dog and
2 x BEST OF BREEDS.
It was so nice to be out and about after not being able to go anywhere for such a long time.
Hopefully we are also able to compete in other disciplines next season when the weather cools down again.

October 2021

I recieve texts, emails and phone calls daily from prospective puppy buyers.
I reply to all inquiries, answer any questions and offer advice as to where the best places are to look for ANKC Registered Weimaraners Breeders.
It's a mine field out there and unfortunately some people have been the victims of scammers.

The best advice I can give to people looking for a Weimaraner puppy is to jump onto Dogz Online!
It's the best website to find ANKC Registered Weimaraner Breeders in Australia and NZ.
* Litters are advertised when they are available as well as older dogs that may be looking for a home.
* A lot of Breeders have a website that has information about their Kennel, upcoming litters etc.
* Social media is being used more and more by Breeders as a place to share information about their Kennel.
Not all Breeders have a Facebook page but you can find them by typing the Kennel Prefix into the search bar on Facebook.
* Find a Breeder that you are comfortable with and be prepared to wait.
* If you wish to varify a Weimaraner Breeder's ligitimacy you can contact the ANKC State Controling Body.
(Dogs NSW, Dogs Vic, Dogs West etc. in your State)
I hope this information has been of some help to those looking for a new family member.
Best of luck!

***

It's BIRTHDAY MONTH here at ASHBOLT!

Both Trixie and Marcus have their birthdays in October.
There will be lots of treats, cuddles, playing and fun to be had!

***

It's October already and the days are heating up!
With the warmer weather comes snakes. Unfortunately we aren't able to run around the paddocks due to the snakes being out and about so we are going walking on lead when we can.
While it's not as fun we still enjoy getting out into the fresh air, the dogs love a good sniff about and we can always use the change of scenery.

September 2021

Spring is here!
With the days getting longer there's more time to get outside and enjoy the warmer weather.

***
With the ongoing Covid 19 lockdowns we are unable to compete in any of the activities we normally enjoy.
On the upside we can spend more time out at the farm.
We haven't continued our Tracking training as we won't be able to make it to any trials this season which is extremely disappointing. Both Marcus and Trixie have been going so well.
Our time spent at the farm is for fitness, fresh air and for letting the dogs do what Weimaraners were bred for. We love every minute spent out there and it's wonderful to see they
possess the natural working abilities that once made the Weimaraner a highly prized hunting dog.

August 2021

2021 is beginning to feel very much like a repeat of last year.
The Covid situation in NSW, Qld. and Victoria doesn't seem to be improving.
I have been taking the dogs out to the farm a few times a week, we all enjoy our time in the paddock.
'Marcus' has shown he's very keen on the quail, often finding and flushing them.
Although he hasn't had any training on quail it makes me happy as a Breeder to see his strong natural working ability.

July 2021

With Covid lockdowns in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane events this month have been cancelled or postponed.
We are lucky where we are, we can still get out to the Farm to do some training or just have a run around the paddock to keep their fitness up.
At this stage we won't have any competitons this month until the Covid outbreaks are brought under control.
It's quite disheartening not having any events/goals to work towards for the forseeable future.

***

I have been using my event free weekends to continue our Tracking training as well as research pedigrees, read various Weimaraner/dog articles and of course just hanging out with 'Trixie' and 'Marcus'.

June 2021

I had entered a few dog sports this month but 'Trixie' has come into season early so we had to give them a miss.
At the Southern Region Shows at Harden 'Marcus' was awarded an 11 point BEST OF BREED.

***
The following weekend we had one show held by the Riverina Kennel Club.
'Marcus' was awarded another BEST OF BREED and INTERMEDIATE IN GROUP.
Unfortunately the second show had to be cancalled due to a Covid outbreak.

***

Tracking season has begun with a few Trials being held in various States!
Both 'Trixie' and 'Marcus' enjoyed their first time out in the paddock training after a 12 month break.
We are all looking forward very much to making it to some Trials this year after not being able to do any last year due to Covid.

May 2021

We did a drive south to 5 shows at Newcastle, the weather was perfect for showing.
Of the 5 shows 'Marcus' won 4 x BEST OF BREEDS and an Aust-Bred in Group.
It was lovely to catch up with some people I hadn't seen for quite some time and of course watch the dogs.

***

We have had a wonderful time doing a few clusters of shows, the cooler weather has been a nice change from the heat in Qld.
We attended 5 shows at Harden in NSW where 'Marcus' was awarded 4 x BEST OF BREEDS.
It was very cold there, we were greeted by -2 degrees and a frost one morning!

***

Cowra Kennel Club held 3 shows at Woodstock.
'Marcus' performed very well and was awarded more points towards his next conformation title.
It was lovely competing in a different area against different dogs and meeting new people.

April 2021

Easter usually means attending the Sydney Royal Easter Show which I love.
Unfortunately this year there was a Covid outbreak which forced Brisbane into lockdown just prior to the start of the show.
I made the decision to stay at home rather than risk infection.
Although it's very disappointing we hope to make it next year.

***

April is also the time of year that the Agricultural Shows are starting to be held.
They are a wonderful showcase of all things Rural. Animals, attractions and crafts.
We headed to Gayndah Show where 'Heaven' was Baby of Breed and
'Marcus' was Best of Breed and RU BEST IN GROUP.

March 2021

'Heaven' Ashbolt Too Hot For Heaven (AI) made her debut at the Beaudesert Kennel Club Show.
She was BABY OF BREED and performed very well for her first time in the ring at 4 months of age.
She is owned and loved by Carol Thompson of KADMA Weimaraners but I hope to be able to show her every now and again.
'Marcus' won another BEST OF BREED, he seems to be on a roll at the moment!

***

It's great to finally be able to travel around more freely with Covid pretty much under control in Australia.
We attended a 5 show cluster in Gunnedah with fabulous results.
'Marcus' won 4 out of 5 BEST OF BREEDS.

***

We are experiencing a prolonged Summer here in Qld. so we haven't been able to begin our Tracking Training at this time of year as we normally do.
There are still too many snakes around to be able to get out into the paddock.
We are all itching to get back out there again!

***

'Trixie' had her first show in almost 3 years at the Gundog and Heavy Breeds Show in Brisbane.
While she's never been much of a fan of the show ring, she performed well and won BEST OF BREED.
After very limited showing 'Marcus' and I are starting to work better as a team and he is enjoying it. He was reserve challenge dog.

February 2021

While the Coronavirus seeme to be relatively under control here I decided to head to NSW for a couple of days of showing with 'Marcus'.
It was really lovely to get out and see people I haven't seen in what feels like forever.
'Marcus' was awarded Best of Breed and Intermediate in Group in a nice line up of dogs.

January 2021

All puppies have arrived in their new homes and are settling in very well.
I look forward to following their journey throughout their lifetime.

***

The HOT Litter are growing fast and will soon be off to their new homes.
It's always a sad time for me seeing them go but they all have wonderful families waiting for them.
I will make the most of my time left with them before they leave and look forward to updates from their new families.

December 2020

ASHBOLT would like to wish everyone a Happy Christmas

and a safe New Year.

***

December has been a busy time looking after the HOT Litter.
'Trixie' is doing a fabulous job and they are growing quickly.
The weather has been so hot in Qld. so we will enjoy a few months break and begin training for our various disciplines in 2021 when it cools down.

November 2020

The HOT Litter arrived safely a couple of days early.
'Rumour' & 'Trixie' have 5 Handsome Boys and 3 Gorgeous Girls!
Everyone is doing well.

I won't be taking any further interest in the litter as I already have more than enough suitable potential homes to work through.
Please note: As I only breed when I am ready for a puppy myself my litters are often several years apart.
For this reason I do not have a waiting list.

***

I have had an overwhelming response to my HOT Litter that's due to arrive at the end of the month.
I won't be taking any further expressions of interest at this time.

'Trixie' is going well and preparations are well underway for their arrival.

October 2020

ASHBOLT ARE EXPECTING!!!

I am thrilled to announce that 'Trixie' has been confirmed in whelp to 'Rumour' by ultrasound.
Puppies will arrive late November.
Information about the HOT Litter can be found under the ASHBOLT Litter 2020 tab at the top of the page.

***

The Coronavirus restrictions are easing but our borders remain closed at this time.
It feels like it's been forever since we have competed in any of our various activities,
I am really beginning to miss it.
Before we know it 2021 will be here and we hope to out and about again when it cools down.

***

I am still receiving countless enquiries in regards to puppies from potential buyers.
I have replied to all texts, messages, phone calls and emails.
I can understand potential buyers frustrations, some have been waiting for many months to welcome a new puppy into their family.
All I can do is suggest you get in touch with Registered ANKC Breeders and find one you are comfortable with.
Unfortunately you are going to have to wait for a new puppy as many Breeders have chosen not to breed as often in these uncertain times. This includes all breeds, not just Weimaraners.

September 2020

The days are getting hotter here in Queensland which means snakes are on the move, we have already had one on our driveway. Sadly this means there won't be anymore trips to the Farm to do any training.
It looks like it may be a very hot Summer so we will have to be vigilant when outside.

August 2020

It's been in the News and on Social Media several times about Puppy Scammers during the Coronavirus pandemic.
They ask for large amounts of money for puppies that don't exist.
The safest places to find a puppy from an ANKC Registered Breeder in Australia are the State Governing Bodies websites - Dogs Qld. Dogs NSW. Dogs Vic. etc. and of course Dogz Online where most Registered Breeders advertise and some also have websites with information about themselves and their dogs.
With the continued uncertainty of the Coronavirus there currently aren't many Breeders having litters.

***

With a second wave of the deadly Coronavirus hitting the Southern States of Australia it will be many months before things return to some sort of normal.
So far we have only had a couple of small outbreaks in Queensland which have been brought under control quickly. Hopefully a vaccine isn't too far away.

***

We are continuing our Tracking training, both 'Trixie' and 'Marcus' are going great.
Hopefully next season we will be able to make it to some Trials.
We really enjoy our trips to the Farm and are lucky we are still able to go.

July 2020

As a Registered Breeder ASHBOLT endeavours to do the very best it can to produce happy, healthy puppies.
From the very beginning I have done Full Breed Profile DNA testing on all of the dogs I have bred with.
I like to keep their testing up to date as new tests become available.
I recently recieved results from Orivet for SD - Spinal Dysraphism done on 'Lucas', 'Trixie' & 'Marcus'.
All results came back as CLEAR for this condition.

***

With the shortest day of the year behind us there's more daylight hours to spend outside.
We are planning a few more Tracking Training camping trips to keep us all motivated seeing as there aren't any Trials for the foreseeable future.
We just love getting out to the Farm!

June 2020

With the continuation of the Coronavirus all dog shows and activities have been put on hold
but that doesn't mean we can't continue to train.
A few of us had a camping weekend out at a friend's property to do some Tracking Training.
We enjoyed ourselves immensely and all the dogs did some great work.
I doubt there will be a Tracking season in Qld this year but it's great to get out with the dogs regardless.

***

The Coronavirus Pandemic is still very real in Australia with small outbreaks being quickly contained.
Restrictions continue to be relaxed but our borders remain closed in Qld. at this time.

***

'Trixie' and 'Marcus' finally got out to do a bit of Tracking training.
Neither have done any Tracking since last season but both did some fabulous work.
It was so nice to get out and do something, we all really enjoy our time out in the paddock together.
Although I don't expect there will be any Tracking this year in Qld. due to the very short season because of the heat we can keep working towards next year.

May 2020

Fingers crossed the worst of the Coronavirus pandemic is now behind us in Australia.
Restrictions have begun to be eased slightly but the outcome of the eased restrictions won't be evident for a few weeks. Everything is crossed Australia manages to keep outbreaks under control and things can keep moving forward towards a normal way of living again.

***

I have recieved countless inquiries for puppies over the past few weeks.
I have chosen not to breed any litters during this uncertain time due to the Coronavirus as explained on my
'Puppies' page.
Hopefully during the coming weeks/months the restrictions continue to ease and I can start thinking about my next planned litter.

April 2020

Most of the World is still in lock down due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Australia appears to be very lucky compared to many other Countries but the spread is still very concerning.
ASHBOLT have chosen not to breed any litters during this time.
Please read my reasons on my 'Puppies' page.
I can only hope that the next few months there's an improvement and some sort of normality isn't too far away.
Everyone please stay safe in these awful times.

March 2020

We headed to NSW to the Tweed River Canine Club Shows this month.
'Marcus' performed beautifully and added some more points to his tally.
It was nice to finally get out and do some shows.

***

These will be our last shows for several months now as all activities have been cancelled or postponed
due to the World wide Coronaviris pandemic.
While it's extremely disappointing we all have to do our part in trying to stop the spread of this deadly virus.
It's unknown at this stage when things will get back to normal again.
We will spend our time training for various disciplines so we are ready for when we can get back out there!

February 2020

Much of the Eastern side of Australia has been experiencing bushfire followed by flooding rain this month with tragic outcomes for both people and wildlife losing their homes.
Although we had planned on doing some interstate shows it has been too dangerous to travel, so we've stayed at home.

We managed to get to the Clifton Agriculture Show which I haven't been to for several years.
It was a lovely day and attracted a good entry.
'Marcus' was awarded BEST OF BREED and enjoyed the attention from the public.

January 2020

2020 has begun very well for 'Marcus'!
We travelled to Newcastle for the weekend to attend 4 shows where 'Marcus' won:
3 x Junior in Groups
1 x JUNIOR IN SHOW
1 x RU BEST IN GROUP from 82 Gundogs!
He performed very well after a break since October and enjoyed showing off.

December 2019

Summer has come early and quickly this year in Queensland!
With high temperatures it's very important to keep dogs hydrated and cool.

2019 has been a very successful year for both 'Trixie' and 'Marcus'.
'Trixie' has achieved 3 Titles this year in Tracking, Lure Coursing and Endurance.
'Marcus' showed he's as versatile as his Multi Talented parents by achieving his Australian Championship and Tracking Dog Title before turning 12 months of age!
'Lucas' is enjoying his retirement and enjoys the trips out to the Farm.
It's been a very busy but enjoyable year competing in various activities.
2020 promises to be much the same but for now we will enjoy a well earned break.

November 2019

We had our last outing for the year to the Qld. Best of Winners and Best Puppy of Winners in Brisbane.
This event is similar to the Qld. Puppy of the Year where competitors have to qualify but is judged by Trainee Judges.
'Marcus' was invited to compete in both Puppy and Adult sections, he qualified at just 8 months of age.
He was the only Weimaraner to qualify for Puppy and one of two Adults.
It was a very long day and quite hot but he went beautifully and I love showing him off.
We will all enjoy a few months off before getting ready for another big year in 2020!

October 2019

I like to get away at least once a year for a showing trip but due to our Tracking and Lure Coursing commitments over the cooler months this year we weren't able to until now.

We travelled North to Proserpine and Sarina for some shows. I haven't been up there for a few years and was sad to see the effects of the drought on the animals and landscape. It did rain while we were there which was great, hopefully there will be further rain to help our Farmers.

'Marcus' did very well accumulating some points and winning 4 x PUPPY IN GROUPS and
2 x PUPPY IN SHOWS qualifying him for Qld. Puppy of the year 2020!
I'm looking forward to what he can achieve once he matures.

***

Qld. Show Dog and Puppy of the Year is a prestigious annual event.
Unlike a normal show, dogs must qualify by winning a Best in Show or Minor/Puppy in Show
so it's the best exhibits in the State. To qualify you are already a winner.
'Marcus' qualified this year and enjoyed the glitz and glamour of the occasion.
Although being knocked out in the early rounds the competition was of a high standard.
We will be back next year to do it all again as 'Marcus' has qualified for 2020!

September 2019

As we head into Spring here in Qld. the warmer weather begins.
Our activities begin to wind down with the end of the Tracking season and only a few Lure Coursing Trials remaining for 2019.
'Marcus' attended the Beenleigh Agricultural Show and was awarded
BEST OF BREED and PUPPY IN GROUP
Although not being shown as much as I'd like, he's always consistent and enjoys showing off.

***

'Trixie' had her first run in CAX (Coursing Ability Excellent) at the Whippet Club of Qld's Trial.
She did 2 fabulous runs for a PASS and 1st Place!
She absolutely loves Lure Coursing and is very consistent with her results.

***

ASHBOLT is very proud to announce it's latest AUSTRALIAN CHAMPION!
'Marcus' gained his last few points needed for the Title at Nanango under Mr E. Pickering (NSW)
against older competition.
He has earned 2 Titles now which is quite remarkable for such a young dog.
I'm so proud to have bred him and to train and handle him myself in all disciplines.
I strive to breed Weimaraners that are competitive in the Show Ring and out in the Field, the next generation
is certainly looking bright.

August 2019

We drove up to Bundaberg for the Isis and Hervey Bay Kennel Club Shows.
'Marcus' picked up 2 x PUPPY IN GROUPS against a big line up of puppies.
He enjoys showing off in the ring, a little too much at times but will settle down with time and experience.

***

'Trixie' enjoyed her day at the Qld. Sighthound Association Lure Coursing Trial in Brisbane picking up another pass and 1st Place Coursing Ability Advanced! She just loves her Dog Sports!

***

August is the month of the Royal Queensland Show (EKKA)
This year was Marcus' first and he finished with some wonderful results for a young dog.
He was awarded Challenge Dog and was RU BEST OF BREED and Puppy of Breed.
Like his Father 'Lucas' he enjoyed the big atmosphere of the Royal and showed like a dream.

***

A few days later at the Gundog and Heavy Breeds Show in Brisbane 'Marcus' was again awarded Challenge Dog and RU BEST OF BREED. He is very close to his Championship Title now at only 10 months of age.

***
'Trixie' is continuing to burn up the Lure Coursing Field.
She gained her final PASS required for her COURSING ABILITY ADVANCED Title and 1st Place CAA.
She has achieved 3 Titles in different Sports in the past 3 months.
Certainly a fabulous achievement no matter which way you look at it!

July 2019

We have had the most fantastic start to this month.
'Marcus' won his first Championship Show BEST IN GROUP at 8 months of age from a lovely line up of Gundogs.
The following day he achieved his TD - Tracking Dog Title with a Grading of Very Good!
He's such an enthusiastic dog with fabulous attitude towards everything. Still very much a puppy, he's a perfect example of what ~ASHBOLT~ strive to produce and promote.
Weimaraners are the best!

***

'Trixie' blasted her way around the Lure Coursing Field at the Whippet Club of Qld. Meet for another PASS towards her next Title and was 1st Place in Coursing Ability Advanced!
She absolutely loves Lure Coursing and is a consistant performer.

***

'Trixie' added another Title to her name this month after she breezed around the 20km Endurance Test
It's a busy time of year as far as Dog Sports go.
All of our early morning training is paying off!

***

Another fabulous day for 'Trixie' on the Lure Coursing Field at the Qld. Sighthound Association Trial.
Another PASS and 1st Place Coursing Ability Advanced. So close to her next Title now!

June 2019

'Marcus' made his Tracking debut this month at 7 months of age.
We turned up on Friday morning in the dark and he ran his Track first up.
He was not familiar with the property, the cows that were all over his Track or his Track Layer.
It didn't seem to matter, he passed his
TD1 with a Grading of Good.
He's a very young and green dog but I'm very proud of how he handled everything.

***

Two weeks later we attended a Tracking Trial just north of Brisbane at Caboolture.
It was a fabulous weekend with great results for both 'Marcus' and 'Trixie'.
'Marucs' passed his TD2 and 'Trixie' passed her TD3 giving her the  TD - Tracking Dog Title!

This is the Fourth Title for 'Trixie'. She has titles in Conformation, Lure Coursing and now Tracking.
~ASHBOLT~ strives to promote the Weimaraner as an all round sporting dog who is competitive both in the Show Ring and out in the Field. I'm very proud of them.

***

Weimaraners love to run and 'Trixie' is no exception!
We attended our second Lure Coursing Trial for the year in Brisbane where 'Trixie' did 2 nice runs for another CAA PASS and was 1st Place Coursing Ability Advanced.

***

'Marcus' wins his very first Best in Group at the Darling Downs Kennel Club Open Show at 7.5 months!
This qualifies him for ~Open Show Best of Winners~ and ~Puppy Best of Winners~ to be held in Brisbane
at the end of the year. He is certainly shaping up to be a versatile Weimaraner like his parents.

***

'Marcus' wins another BEST OF BREED and Minor Puppy in Group at Rosewood Show.
He has a wonderful ring presence and knows how to enjoy himself!

May 2019

It's a busy time of year when all the Agricultural Shows are on.
'Marcus' has handled all the extra noise and activity without a care in the World.
Sideshows, chainsaws, livestock, woodchops, balloons, tractor pulls and much more draw the crowds to these shows. Many come and watch the dogs strut their stuff, pat them and ask lots of questions.
It's a great opportunity to show off our breeds to the community.

'Marcus' has been adding points towards his Australian Championship Title against older competition as well as adding some ribbons to his collection. He's a happy outgoing young man with heaps of ring presence.
I'm very proud to be on the end of his show lead.

***

'Marcus' was BEST OF BREED at the Esk Show, one of my favorite Agricultural Shows in Qld.
The following weekend he won another MINOR PUPPY IN GROUP at Boonah Show.

April 2019

'Trixie' was excited to be back out on the Lure Coursing Field and did a couple of excellent runs to gain another CAA PASS towards her Coursing Ability Advanced Title.
'Marcus' had a fun time during a puppy run. He will hit the Coursing Field once he is older.

***

Tracking training has been going well. We have gone out to the Farm for some practice and for some fun swimming in the dam and doing some Retrieving. The dogs love it!

'Marcus' is on a roll in the Show Ring winning against competion in his breed and attaining another
BABY PUPPY IN GROUP. He is getting the hang of it all.

***

'Marcus' continues on his winning way with another 2 x BABY PUPPY IN GROUPS and a
~ BABY PUPPY IN SHOW ~
He is still learning but really enjoying himself, he's a bit of a show off!

***

'Marcus' and I are heading down to Sydney at Easter time to compete at the Royal Show.
Weimaraners will be judged on Sunday 21st April.
We are looking forward to seeing Weimaraners from other States and catching up with friends.

***

At the ANZAC Day Show in Brisbane 'Marcus' had just turned 6 months of age.
This means he is now eligible to compete for points towards his Australian Championship Title.
It also means he's the youngest, competing against much older and more mature competition.
No one told 'Marcus'! He gained his first 8 points and was awarded
~ MINOR PUPPY IN SHOW ~
This qualifies him for Queensland Show Puppy of the Year!

March 2019

7 weeks after 'Marcus' made his showing debut we headed to Gladstone for a couple of shows.
He went well concidering we haven't been out in almost 2 months and picked up a
2nd Place in Babay Puppy Sweepstakes from 21 entries and a BABY PUPPY IN GROUP!

***

Our training is various disciplines is going well, the dogs are enjoying being busy again.
'Marcus' had his first taste of Lure Coursing at a Fun Day held in Brisbane.
He enjoyed his puppy run and 'Trixie' powered around the course. She had a big smile on her face and enjoyed her run in the Field.

February 2019

Tracking training has begun for our first Trial in a couple of months time.
'Trixie' hasn't forgotten anything after a 12 month break and was very keen to get back out there.
'Marcus'  had his first experience and showed he's a natural!
Hopefully the weather will cool off some more so we can do some training in different locations.

***

'Marcus' made his showing debut at just over 3 months of age at a night show in Brisbane.
He took everything in his stride and was awarded
BEST BABY PUPPY IN GROUP!
He made several new friends and enjoyed himself immensely.

January 2019

Summer is always hot in Queensland so it's an excellent time to have a break,
recharge the batteries and just hang out.

We will be starting to work on our fitness and body condition before too long then training will begin for the various disciplines we will be enjoying this year.
The calander is looking full with a few trips planned throughout the year as well.
We can't wait to get started!

December 2018

'ASHBOLT' would like to wish everyone a very
Merry Christmas and all the best for the
New Year!

December has been a busy month with the ~CLASS~ litter.
They have grown so much and have been exposed to many different situations, people, smells and locations. They have been for several trips in the Van and taken it all in their stride.

They head off to their new homes just after Christmas, I will miss them all terribly.
I have kept a boy, 'Marcus' and look forward very much to many fun years ahead together.

November 2018

The ~CLASS~ Litter are growing by the day!
Miss Orange has started to open her eyes, the others won't be far behind.
'Trixie' has settled into the Mother role very well and is doing a fantastic job.
She enjoys spending some time away from the puppies playing with 'Lucas' in the yard and sunbaking.

The puppies have begun their 'Puppy Culture' journey, exciting times ahead!

October 2018

The ~CLASS~ PUPPIES HAVE ARRIVED!

'Trixie' has given us 2 gorgeous Girls and 5 handsome Boys.
Everyone is doing great and 'Trixie' is a super first time Mum.
'Lucas' can't wait to meet them when they are a little older.

(All these puppies have been spoken for.)

***

With the pending arrival of the ~ CLASS ~ Litter at the end of the month preparations are underway!
'Trixie' is doing well and seems to be growing by the day.

September 2018

After 8.5 years ASHBOLT are excited to announce we are expecting!!!
Confirmed by ultrasound 'Lucas' & 'Trixie' puppies are due at the end of next month.

Thankyou for the many inquiries regarding my ~CLASS~ Litter.
All puppies are spoken for.

August 2018

August has been a very quiet month for us here at ASHBOLT.
It's been nice to have some relaxing time at home with 'Lucas' & 'Trixie'.
Our Winter has been very mild this year and there have been some snakes around
so we haven't been out to the Farm. We all enjoy our visits out there running in the paddocks
and swimming in the dam.

July 2018

'Trixie' by name trickster by nature!
'Good things come to those who wait.'
We are still patiently waiting for 'Trixie' to come into season.
I am looking forward very much to this very special litter.
I'm sure there will be some future stars among them!

June 2018

ASHBOLT has another Multi Titled Weimaraner!
'Trixie' gained her 10th PASS required for her COURSING ABILITY (CA) Title.
She did two great runs and was also 4th Place CA CAT Dog!!!

Weimaraners are a great all round sporting dog that can excell at many different disciplines.
Here at ASHBOLT I try to showcase their natural ability as well as their trainability to succeed at various activities
as well as being competitive in the Show Ring.

***

'Trixie' is certainly enjoying her Lure Coursing.
She did a couple of great runs in Brisbane to aquire another CA PASS towards her Coursing Ability Title.
She also 4th Place in an entry of 41 CA CAT Dogs!

May 2018

I attended a seminar on The Mechanics of Canine Movement given by Lindsey Connell.
It was a fabulous few hours which covered structure, movement and how to prevent injury through correct exercises and training.
I have always used Bowen Therapy, Acupuncture and Essential Oils regularly to help prevent injury.
Keeping a reasonable level of physical fitness is of great benefit.

April 2018

After a few months of Tracking training we had our first Trial of the season.
'Trixie' encounted various distractions (horses, ducks and wildlife smells) while on her track.
She worked well and achieved a pass for her TD2 (Tracking Dog 2)

***

Both 'Lucas' & 'Trixie' enjoyed their day at the Qld. Sighthound Association Lure Coursing Meet
the day after Toowoomba Royal Show.
'Trixie' did a couple of great runs for another CA PASS.
She's closing in on her next Lure Coursing Title, another first for a Weimaraner.

***

It was an overcast day at the Toowoomba Royal Show this year which made for a pleasant day.
Under International Judge Mr J. Rowton from Canada 'Lucas' was Best of Breed and

BEST EXHIBIT IN GROUP!
It was a fantastic win in wonderful company, a very special day.

After a stella show career 'Lucas' will now enjoy retirement.
I'm so proud of all his achievements. More than 4,000 challenge points, multiple BEST IN SHOW awards and of course his various Titles he's gained in other disciplines. Truely an all round Weimaraner.
He will continue to enjoy Tracking and Retrieving which he absolutely loves. He can also enjoy more time on the couch, sleeping on my bed and playing in the yard.
Although a little sad, it's time to look forward to campaining his offspring in my upcoming litter this year.

***

With our first Tracking Trial only a few weeks away 'Lucas' 'Trixie' and I have spent time on a few different properties training. It will be a short season for us this year so I have decided that I will only be trialling 'Trixie'. She passed her TD 1 last year at her debut and her training has been going very well.
Hopefully our hard work will pay off out in the paddock come Trial day!

***

After the Easter weekend we did 4 shows in NSW.
'Lucas' was awarded BEST OF BREED at all 4 shows while
'Trixie' won 2 x RU BEST OF BREEDS and a reserve challenge bitch.

March 2018

After our trip to Newcastle we have a few weeks break from showing.
Our weekends were filled with lots of fun Tracking training and Lure Coursing.

For the second year in a row 'Lucas' won Best in Group at the Gundog & Heavy Breeds Show in Brisbane.
This was his 50th BEST IN GROUP win! A very special achievement.
He didn't stop there however and went on to win RU BEST IN SHOW from a fabulous lineup of dogs.
I'm so proud to have bred such a wonderful dog who's consistantly being awarded at a high level even as a Veteran.

***

Another BEST IN GROUP for 'Lucas' at Proston Show Society!
A sound Weimaraner with lovely breed type and undeniable quality.

***

While it's still very hot in Qld. we ventured South to Newcastle and Morisset for some shows where both kids were consistantly awarded by interstate Judges in different competition.

Both 'Lucas' & 'Trixie' were awarded Best of Breed & RU Best of Breed at every show.
'Lucas' also won a RU BEST IN GROUP and
'Trixie' won an Intermediate in Group topping off a busy weekend.

January 2018

As January is a hot month for us so it's a perfect opportunity to hang up the leads and have a well earned break.
Time to play under the sprinkler, run around the yard and just chill out.

Training for various disciplines will begin when it cools down.
2018 is going to be a very busy year for us!

December 2017

'ASHBOLT' wishes everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy & Safe New Year!

***

At our final show for the year 'Lucas' was awarded Best of Breed.
Both kids have been consistant throughout the year in several different disciplines.
I look forward to another year ahead of fun and success.

***

Only a handful of shows left in Qld. until the end of the year.
We attended the Maree Kennel Club Show in Brisbane where funds raised went Cancer Research.
'Lucas' was Best of Breed and RU BEST IN GROUP while 'Trixie' won a lovely 13 point Bitch Challenge and RU Best of Breed to 'Lucas'.

November 2017

"If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you.
If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you."

I attended another seminar held by World Renowned ANKC Breeder Sue Huebner (Cordmaker Pulis)
It was the most inspiring seminar I have ever been to. Her passion for the preservation of Purebred dogs was very moving. Crossbred dogs (designer dogs) have become very popular over the 10 years and now outnumber purebred dogs which is extremely concerning.
As a Registered ANKC Breeder it's my obligation to help preserve purebred dogs into the future.
Purebred dogs have a rich history, many were designed for a specific purpose hundreds of years ago whether it be for work as the Weimaraners were or as companions like many of the Toy breeds.
It would be very unfortunate to see some purebred breeds disappear in favour of the ever growing popularity of the crossbred dog.

***

Caboolture held their International Spring Spectacular Shows over 4 days at a new venue this year.
It was indoors at night to avoid the Qld. heat with an International panel of Judges from
Canada, Uruguay, Brazil, Sth Africa, Thailand and Malasyia.
'Lucas' was the International's choice winning BEST OF BREED at all 4 shows.
'Trixie' also showed well at 2 shows winning 1 x Reserve Bitch & 1 x Challenge Bitch RU Best of Breed.

***

I attended a couple of seminars held by Dogs Qld. available to all members.
The topics included: H
ow to be a Successful Trainee Judge, Critiquing, Judging Ethics and Social Media.
The second seminar covered procedures relating to importing semen from overseas.
I thouroughly enjoyed listening to the passionate speakers share their years of experience.
I'm always trying to improve my knowledge and understanding of all things canine.
As they say 'You only get out what you put it.'

***

We made a quick trip to Newcastle and Wollongong for some shows under local and international judges.
At the 2 All Breeds shows held at the Hillsborough grounds 'Lucas' was awarded Best of Breed at both.
He was also shortlisted for the Group from a lovely line up of Gundogs.

We then headed to Wollongong for the two 40th Anniversary Southern Gundog Shows.
'Trixie' was Best of Breed under Mrs B. Burns (USA) at Show #1
'Lucas' was Best of Breed under Mr T. Atkinson (Vic.) at Show #2

I like to travel and compete against different competition.
It was lovely to see both 'Lucas' and 'Trixie' be awarded by Gundog Specialists.

October 2017

At Queensland's prestigious Dog of the Year Show 'Lucas' shone very brightly.
Friday night saw him selected as one of the Top 32 Show Dogs which was then judged in
Brisbane City at 'Royal on the Park Hotel' on Saturday night. It was a glamorous Black Tie affair.
Under three International Judges 'Lucas' made the TOP 4 QLD SHOW DOG OF THE YEAR!!!
Such a fabulous achievement against Queensland's top show dogs, a night I won't forget.

After the excitement of the Dog of the Year Show our fabulous weekend continued.
'Lucas' was awarded BEST IN GROUP & AUST-BRED IN SHOW Sunday under a Breed Specialist.

'Trixie' also had a busy weekend winning Challenge Bitch & AUST-BRED IN GROUP Saturday.
Sunday she gained another PASS & 3rd Place CAT Dog at the Lure Coursing Trial.

***

We had a wonderful time in Sydney over the long weekend.
'Trixie' did two great runs for another couple of PASSES towards her Coursing Ability Title
at the NSW Lure Coursing double Trial under judges from the USA.

While we were there we also attended the Fairfield & District Kennel Club Show.
'Lucas' and 'Trixie' both showed well after a couple of months break from the ring.
'Lucas' was awarded BEST OF BREED and 'Trixie' was Challenge Bitch.
It was nice to see the other dogs and meet up with Southern friends.

September 2017

The temperatures are on the rise already in Qld. It's looking like another hot Summer.
The days are also getting longer which means it's perfect for walking the dogs at sunrise before work!
Snakes are also on the move so unfortunately we won't be going out the the Farm until next year.

August 2017

August is when the Brisbane Royal Show (EKKA) is held.
A great way to showcase purebred dogs to the public.
Over 200 different breeds are represented. The perfect place to ask Breeders & Owners all sorts of questions and see the dogs in person.
'Lucas' was BEST OF BREED again this year under a judge from Serbia.
He also won 1ST PLACE OPEN SWEEPSTAKES.
(Unfortunately 'Trixie' wasn't shown as she had come into season)

July 2017

'Trixie' made her Tracking debut and passed her TD1 with a Grading of 'Good'.
I hadn't planned on Trialling her until next year but she has taken to it like a duck to water!
She's very keen and at this stage and is showing lots of promise as a Tracking Dog.

June 2017

Although 'Lucas' has officially been a Veteran (7yrs and over) since February this year, he's still very competitive against much younger competition.
A true testament to his soundness and quality.
Mrs A. Raymond from SA was very impressed with his ageless quality awarding him a
BEST IN GROUP in wonderful company.
He was then awarded best AUST-BRED IN SHOW under Mrs V. Schneider (Qld.)
at the Qld. Kennel Club Show in Brisbane.

May 2017

'Trixie' had a blast at the Qld. Sighthound Lure Coursing Trial.
She did a couple of great runs on a challenging course giving her the remaining PASS for her
JC TITLE! (Junior Courser) She's certainly proving to be a versatile girl!
She can now be known as ~ Ch Cruisenif Hot Tricks JC ~

~ 'Trixie' is the first Weimaraner in Australia to achieve a Lure Coursing Title! ~

***

'Lucas' had a wonderful day at the Esk Ag Show under Gundog Specialist Mr V. Jones (Qld.)
He was BEST IN GROUP and won AUST-BRED IN SHOW under Mrs L. Dorr (Qld.)
A lovely country show atmosphere with quality Gundogs.

***

Crow's Nest Ag Show was one I won't forget for a long time.
'Lucas' won Best of Breed, BEST IN GROUP and then went on to win
~ RU BEST IN SHOW ~!
A fabulous win in great competition.

***

Marburg Ag Show was a great one for both the kids.

April 2017

The Agricultural Shows start in April, a great place to showcase our Breed to the public.
With sideshows, livestock and machinery they can be very busy and noisy indeed!
We had some great results at Goombungee Ag Show.
'Lucas' was Best of Breed and RU BEST IN GROUP.

***

We took the long drive to Sydney for the Royal Easter Show this year with both 'Lucas' & 'Trixie' doing very well. 'Lucas' was 1st Place in the Aust-Bred Dog Class while
'Trixie' was 2nd Place in the Intermediate Bitch Class.
They both handled the busy atmosphere without any trouble.

March 2017

Tracking training is going very well. I've been able to train a couple of times a week on a friend's property.
Now that 'Trixie' has finished her season I will be able to take them for our regular walks on the Beach as well to keep up their fitness and condition.
Beaudesert KC Show had a Weimaraner entry of 16 this year.
'Lucas' was Best of Breed and AUST-BRED IN GROUP.
'Trixie' was Reserve Challenge bitch from 10 bitches and went well after her break.

***

The Gundog Show in Brisbane showcases all the wonderful Breeds within the Gundog Group.
Pointers, Setters, Retrievers, Spaniels and the Utility Gundogs.
'Lucas' was Best of Breed in a good entry of Weimaraners and was awarded
BEST VETERAN IN SHOW (for dogs over 7 years of age)
'Trixie' is in season so was not shown. She also missed her Lure Coursing debut which was unfortunate.

***

Our first show for the year was the Gundog & Heavy Breeds Show in Brisbane.
From a good Weimaraner entry 'Lucas' was Best of Breed and then went on to win
BEST IN GROUP and AUST-BRED IN SHOW!

'Trixie' went well after a few months off and was Junior of Breed.

February 2017

We've started Tracking Training in readiness for this year's Tracking season which kicks off in April.
Due to the heat and snakes over the Winter months last year we couldn't do any training or Trials.
This year I hope to attend some Trials with 'Lucas' and get 'Trixie' started so I can Trial her next season.
After not doing any tracking for over 12 months 'Lucas' showed he hasn't lost his touch!
He's super keen and tracking well. I am also enjoying being out in the paddock again.
'Trixie' had her first go at a short track and did very well.

***

We've been enjoying the break over the hotter months here in Qld.
It's also a good chance to have some fun trying something new.
'Trixie' had her first go at Lure Coursing and was a star!
Her speed, agility and enthusiasm showed she has the potential of being a competitive Courser.
'Lucas' also had a run after a few years away from the sport and had a blast.

January 2017

Summer on the Sunshine Coast can be very hot and this year is no exception!
We will enjoy some downtime walking on the Beach, swimming in the little pool and just hanging out until it cools down enough to get back out there.

December 2016

"ASHBOLT" wishes everyone a safe and happy Christmas!

***

The temperatures are starting to rise here in Qld.
Our mornings start early (4.30am) with an hour or so walk before the heat of the day.
With only a handful of shows left it's time to look forward to a couple of months break.

***

At our last shows for the year both 'Lucas' & 'Trixie' went very well.
'Lucas' won another RU BEST IN GROUP
'Trixie' was awarded a lovely 14 point Bitch Challenge and RU Best of Breed.

November 2016

November is the month of the famous Melbourne Cup horse race.
There are many different ways to celebrate the occasion. We of course went to a Dog Show!
It was 'Trixie's' turn to shine winning a 12 point Best of Breed and went on to win
RU BEST IN GROUP under a replacement judge!

Dogs Qld. held a Seminar on 'The Genetics Of Canine Hip Dysplasia' which I attended.
It was a full house of Breeders eager to learn more about this debilitating disease and what we can all do to help prevent it occurring in our chosen Breed's offspring.
The speakers were from the University of Sydney who had done lots of research on Hip Dysplasia and the causes. A certain percentage of HD in offspring is contributed to by the parents that's why it's so important for all Breeders to Hip Score all of their breeding dogs & bitches before planning any litters.
This helps to reduce the occurrence of HD in any offspring.
