Shelpin Cocker Spaniels is a small, home-based kennel located on the north side of Brisbane, Queensland. We are passionate about the English Cocker Spaniel and breed selectively, primarily when seeking to add a new member to our show team. As a result, our litters are thoughtfully planned and not produced frequently.
Our journey began with a deep love for the Cocker Spaniel breed, which naturally evolved into a commitment to conformation showing. Over the years, our dogs have consistently performed with distinction in the show ring, and we are proud to have produced multiple Best in Show and Best in Group winners.
This year marked a significant milestone for us, with Lara – SUPREME CH. Shelpin Star Huntress becoming our very first Supreme Champion. Achieving this prestigious title is a testament to Lara’s outstanding quality, determination, and presence in the ring—and a proud moment for our entire team.
Another memorable achievement was our participation in the 2024 Cocker Spaniel Nationals in New South Wales, where our boy Nitro – NEUT CH. AUST CH. SHELPIN AIM FOR THE STARS was awarded Best Neuter in Show.
At Shelpin, we are dedicated to breeding Cocker Spaniels that embody the breed standard in structure, temperament, and health. Our puppies are raised in a nurturing home environment, where they are given plenty of enrichment, playtime, and socialisation. We place great importance on early desensitisation and interaction to ensure a smooth transition into their future homes.
Health is a top priority in our breeding program. All of our dogs undergo comprehensive health testing through Orivet, including screening for AON (Adult Onset Neuropathy) via internationally approved laboratories. This thorough approach ensures peace of mind for our puppy families and helps us maintain the highest standard of breeding ethics.
Beyond the show ring, we are thrilled that several Shelpin-bred Cocker Spaniels are excelling in various dog sports, including Sprint Dog, Lure Coursing, Scent Work, and even Dog Surfing—earning titles and demonstrating the versatility and enthusiasm typical of the breed.
